Fairfax, Virginia
General Dynamics Mission Systems is the “brains behind the brawn” as a provider of “mission-critical solutions” for those who protect and serve the United States. The company is a technology integrator and original equipment manufacturer with decades of experience engineering systems for land, sea, air, space, and cyber. As they embarked on renovating their Fairfax, VA, corporate office building, the company sought after a decorative material that was consistent with their brand identity. The material they would ultimately choose needed to reflect their mission of providing advanced, reliable technology for the armed forces who are the embodiment of strength and resilience in America.
Interior designers at Intec Group selected silver tin-plated steel Fabricoil® with a clear lacquer finish for the final design, hanging these custom panels from the ceiling of the General Dynamics renovated atrium and lobby space to not just add an sculptural element to the lobby interior, but to provide solar shading and glare reduction for employees in the atrium space defined by a large glass curtainwall that fills the area with light during the day. A simple design that goes a long way to elevating the space.
The 3/16” Fabricoil® coiled wire fabric metal mesh panels were shape cut for sculptural interest and hung with Cascade’s pre-engineered Hook with Steel Angle attachment system. The material’s tin coating is rated Grade A, conforms to ASTM standards, and is a cost-efficient solution perfect for interior spaces.
