Intermountain Healthcare is a not-for-profit healthcare system headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and serves as the largest healthcare provider in the Intermountain West region of the U.S., primarily serving Utah and Idaho.
For a bistro located in one of the provider’s Murray hospitals, architects at NBBJ specified a 5/16” aluminum Fabricoil® partition with a Brightened finish to incorporate into the eatery’s interior.
The material adds dimension to the space without obscuring views. For healthcare workers and hospital staff, it provides privacy by enclosing the dining space without entirely eliminating visibility or light from entering behind the booth seating.
In addition, coiled wire fabric does not require constant cleaning like traditional, solid partitions and it also tends to shed dust. By including Fabricoil® in the design, the project team was able to achieve a mix of semi-transparent and opaque materials to produce a contemporary and stylish space for staff and visitors.
Designers chose to let the Fabricoil® mesh hang freely from the ceiling to achieve a soft, less rigid appearance. The material fits in well with other design choices giving the bistro a clean, high-end look perfect for a modern hospital environment.
