The original Williams Residence, built in 1972, was a unique property tucked away in the woods. As more traditional houses were being built and the area was experiencing growth, the Williams family renovated their home in 1990 in the form of a non-traditional stucco structure with circular features and sloped roofs.
In January 2021, another update was made to create a top-of-the-line wine cave within the home. Seeking a unique architectural material for the space, Cascade 5/16” steel Fabricoil® metal mesh was installed to cover the walls of the wine cellar and assist in maintaining the correct temperature at all times.
With strength, durability, and high-end aesthetics, Cascade delivered a signature, custom look to enhance the already-impressive architectural features of the residence. Demonstrating their value even further, Cascade Architectural engineers conducted thermal stack effect testing to ensure air temperatures were just right. They also included humidity sensors, wine bottle temperature sensors, and ensured that the proper number of bottles were added. Ultimately, the Fabricoil metal mesh curtains reduced the temperature rise of the wine. With the addition of extra sensors, the proper temperature is consistently maintained.
Not only did Cascade provide the right solution for the wine, but the metal mesh added the perfect aesthetic touch to this one-of-a-kind wine cave.
