Designed by the fantastic team at PRO - Peterson Rich Office, The Mandala Lab at the Rubin Museum of Art encompasses a modern and immersive cultural experience inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist mandala. The Mandala, typically a Buddhist devotional diagram or symbol that is used to guide individuals along a path to enlightenment, is organized into this thoughtful space to stimulate it’s audience and promote emotional inspiration. The 2,700 square feet of space exhibits features that include sculptures, scent, videos, percussion instruments, and areas for meditation. Approximately 1,500 square feet of Cascade’s Fabricoil metal mesh is used to partition the multipurpose open floor plan to avoid creating light and visual barriers across the lab. The designers chose Cascade’s Metallic White powder coated steel metal mesh to soften and enhance the mellow lighting effects and reflect the other color pallets used in the space.
